Teaches long forgotten survival skills

This is one of my favorite reads on survival skills in the outdoors. It is filled with practical teachings on the most basic and important skills to survive comfortably off the grid, off the land and in the wilderness. A must read for anyone desiring to learn how to live independently of this crumbling world system.

An outstanding book on woodsmen skills from days of yore. Good practical information and is easy to read and understand. I would highly recommend this to anyone who spends time in the outdoors.

A good, informative book - Digital Kindle Version

This was a well thought out, well written, and informative book. The information contained within its pages, although dated, is incredibly useful. I found the portion regarding navigation the most informative.
As other reviewers have noted, some sections are rather long winded. Most notable in the long winded area was snow shoes. While undoubtedly the author was in a position in which snow shoes would be necessary, that section didn't pertain to my needs or interests, so I glossed over it rather quickly.
I really enjoyed that the original illustrations were included in the digital version. That is something that is greatly lacking in other digital reproductions of different books in the wood/bushcraft genre.
Overall this was a great book that I will definitely be reading again to pick up any missed information. I wanted to give this book 4.5 stars, but I can't, so 4 stars it is.
